Where to See Fireworks in Chicago

The Fourth of July is almost here, and warm weather is here along with everything else that it brings with it. Whether you enjoy barbecues, time spent with family and friends, or just relaxing after a long week at work, almost everyone can find common ground in one enduring tradition: fireworks. Here are some great places to see fireworks if you’ll be in Chicago this Independence Day.

Navy Pier: Navy Pier holds regular firework shows from Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day weekend. Better still, they plan to go all-out for an extended holiday show on Saturday at 9pm, accompanied by patriotic music. If you have attended any of their previous fireworks shows, be sure you don’t miss this one.

Taste of Chicago: The Taste of Chicago’s Independence Eve fireworks show highlights the city’s giant food fest. On Friday, the festivities start at 7:30 with the Grant Park Orchestra at the Petrillo Music Shell. The fireworks themselves start at 9:30. Since the crowds will be massive, be sure to plan ahead for delays while coming and going.

If you won’t be near downtown Chicago or don’t want to get stuck in traffic, here are some other locations to see fireworks:

Addison: Saturday at 9:30, at 120 E. Oak Street.

Arlington Heights: Friday at 9pm, at the Arlington Park Racecourse.

Aurora: Saturday at dusk, at Aurora High School.

Barrington: Saturday at dusk, at Barrington High School.

Beecher: Saturday at 9:30pm, at 711 Penfield, Firemen’s Park.

Great Lakes: Independence Day celebration on Friday and Saturday, at the Great Lakes Naval Base.

Naperville: Saturday at 9:30pm, at Knoch Park.

Oakbrook Terrace: Saturday at 9:30pm, at Terrace View Park.
