Dems Rev It Up In Denver By: Jimmy James |
| |
It’s a really big week for our friends on the Democratic side of the aisle. That’s right, it’s convention time, and the Democrats are turning Denver into one big, socialist party town, in hopes of turning the nation left, and getting the biggest boost as possible coming out of the convention.
The two big stories so far have to do with Joe Biden as Obama’s VP choice, and Hillary Clinton, the fact that she wasn’t Obama’s VP pick.
Personally I have to admit, Biden was a pretty good choice as a VP. He is experienced, knowledgeable and well liked on both sides of the aisle. His strength, by far is foreign policy, which is where Obama suffers the most. Oh and he’s a well established, old white guy, which is the demographic the Democrats just can’t seem to capture this time around. Seems like a good bet that Joe can bring in some of that demographic.
And then there’s Hillary. I guess it shouldn’t shock anyone that Obama didn’t pick Hillary as his VP, despite the huge amount of pressure from the Democratic rank and file and the media to do so. The only problem now is what to do about all the disaffected Hillary supporters that seem committed to vote for anyone but Barack Obama.
I know for a fact that John McCain is all too willing and ready to accept them with open arms, but it seems hard for me to believe that they would embrace McCain with the same vigor. It seems much more likely that Hillary supporters will eventually end up supporting Obama. Not that McCain will refuse any vote that comes from the other side of the aisle.
One thing is for sure, with the start of the Democratic National Convention, the game is on and it only gets hotter from here on in.
