Michael Jackson Honored Today With Special Apollo Theater Tribute
A tribute to Michael Jackson will take place today at the Apollo Theater in New York's Harlem. From 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Eastern, fans will be allowed into the theater to hear Jackson's music, see his videos and leave cards or a memento for Jackson. Apollo employee Nina Flowers says people can leave things at the foot of the stage, listen to Jackon's legendary music and, quote, "just celebrate his life." Groups of 600 fans at a time will be brought inside the Apollo and then taken out for another 600 and so on. A moment of silence will be held at 5:26 p.m. eastern time, the time Jackson was pronounced dead in Los Angeles last Thursday.
In other Michael Jackson tribute news, "TV Guide" magazine will honor the late pop icon with a special edition that hits newsstands this Thursday, July 2nd. "Entertainment Tonight" reports the the publication will feature Jackson's celebrity friends sharing their memories of the "King of Pop" along with a special look into the making "Thriller." Actress Farrah Fawcett, who passed away on the same day as Jackson, will also be remembered in the issue with exclusive interviews with her former "Charlie's Angels" co-stars. |
