An Unreleased Michael Jackson Song Surfaces, Concert Footage Could Follow
Less than a week after his death, new music from Michael Jackson is beginning to come to light. E! News has obtained a copy of Jackson's unreleased track "Shout," which was recorded in 2001 at Sony Recording Studios in New York City. The song, which puts a unique spin on the Isley Brothers 1959 hit, was written by the New Jersey-based duo of Cyph and Crystal. Cyph discussed the unreleased project with E! News saying Jackson really enjoyed the recording, but added that it got, quote, "railroaded by politics within the album" and the dispute between Jackson and former Sony Records boss Tommy Mottola. Cyph says the song wound up being released as a maxi single with the R. Kelly song "Cry." According to the "Times of London," Michael Jackson biographer Ian Halperin claims that the "King of Pop" may have left more than 100 unreleased songs to his three children as a "personal legacy." In related news, TheWrap.com is reporting that footage of Jackson's last Los Angeles rehearsal for his now-cancelled London shows may see the light of day. The rehearsal was recorded by AEG as part of Jackson's multimillion-dollar deal, and the company is planning to release the footage on DVD and CD as a "live concert."
