Debbie Rowe's Attorney: My Client Is The Mother Of Michael Jackson's Kids
An attorney for Michael Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe has confirmed in a statement that Rowe is the biological mother to the late pop icon's two oldest children. Rowe's attorney stressed in the statement that Rowe refused to get pulled into the various rumors claiming she was only a surrogate mother to the kids. From a legal standpoint, Jackson family attorney Diane Goodman told King that the children are without a doubt those of the pop singer and Debbie Rowe.
The children in question are 12-year-old Prince Michael Joseph, Jr. and eleven-year-old Paris Michael Katherine. Jackson's youngest child, Prince Michael Jackson II, also known as Blanket, was born in 2002 with the help of a surrogate mother. Goodman went on to say Jackson is listed on the birth certificates for the two oldest kids therefore making him, quote, "the children's only father." All three children are currently in the care of Jackson's mother Katherine. She was granted temporary guardianship until a custody hearing takes place next Monday.
Speculation arose that Jackson might not be the biological father of the two oldest children on Tuesday. TMZ.com cited "multiple sources deeply connected to the birth" claiming Jackson did not father the kids and Rowe was only a surrogate. "Us Weekly" reported that Jackson's dermatologist, Arnold Klein, could be the children's biological father. Sources claim Klein and Rowe signed an agreement saying they would never reveal the truth.
Rowe, who worked as a dermatology nurse, first met Jackson in the mid-1980s when she treated the "King of Pop" for vitiligo. The pair wed in 1997, the same year that Prince Michael, Jr. was born. A year later, Rowe gave birth to Paris. The couple subsequently divorced in 1999. |
