Gene Simmons Offers Prediction On Adam Lambert's Future
Gene Simmons says he thinks "American Idol" runner up Adam Lambert has made a big mistake by going public with his sexual orientation. The KISS bassist, who performed with Lambert on the recent "Idol" finale show, tells AOL's "Inside TV" he thinks Lambert is "enormously talented" but, quote, "I think he killed his career because now the conversation is not about his talent but about his sexual preference. He's done." Simmons explains that in speaking openly about his sexuality he's risked alienating a good portion of his fan base. The rocker notes, quote, "The masses don't all live in L.A. They live in Wisconsin and Nebraska, and you're on crack if you think the same rules apply there." Simmons says that if he were Lambert's advisor he'd tell the vocalist to just remain quiet on what could be such a divisive issue and not concern himself with others might be saying about him. He also hopes his prediction about Lambert is off the mark, adding, quote, "I hope he becomes the next Beatles and proves me wrong." |
