T Bone Burnett Earns Oscar Nomination
T Bone Burnett continues to get attention for his work on the film "Crazy Heart." His song "The Weary Kind (Theme from Crazy Heart)," which he penned with Ryan Bingham, is among the Oscar nominees. The track is in the running for Best Original Song, competing for the honor with Randy Newman's "Almost There" and "Down in New Orleans," which are both from "The Princess and the Frog;" Maury Yeston's "Take It All" from "Nine;" and Reinhardt Wagner and Frank Thomas' "Loin de Paname" from "Paris 36." The 82nd Annual Academy Awards will be presented on March 7th. ABC will televise the ceremony live from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood starting at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.
Burnett has already won several awards for his contributions to "Crazy Heart." Last month the track got the nod for Best Original Song - Motion Picture at the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards, and was named Best Song at the Broadcast Film Critics Association's 15th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards. In addition, Burnett's score to the movie, which he created with his late friend Stephen Bruton -- who died of cancer last May -- was honored by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association in December. |
