Simon Cowell's 2010 remake of R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts," premiered on "BBC Radio 1" Tuesday morning. The entire roster for the track includes Mariah Carey, Jon Bon Jovi, Rod Stewart, Leona Lewis, Miley Cyrus, Mika, Michael Buble, James Blunt, James Morrison, and several UK singers. Right now the song retails for just under four British pounds -- which is a little over six American dollars -- at online retailers Play.com, HMV.com, and Amazon.co.uk. Proceeds from sales of the song will be split between Disasters Emergency Committee and "The Sun" newspaper's "Helping Haiti" fund. Pre-orders are being taken now, with the song's official release date slated for Monday, February 8th.
The original "Everybody Hurts," was released on the 1992 R.E.M. album "Automatic For The People." The song's memorable 1993 music video showed drivers leaving their cars during a traffic jam in a collection of poignant images. The video won four MTV Video Music Awards the following year, in 1994. |
