T Bone Burnett, Jeff Bridges Discuss Songs In "Crazy Heart"
T Bone Burnett and actor Jeff Bridges are enjoying industry buzz with Oscar nominations for their work in the film "Crazy Heart." The two are now divulging the process behind making music for the Scott Cooper-directed film. Burnett describes the creative meetings for the music as "seances." Regarding Bridges' "Crazy Heart" character, Bad Blake, Burnett tells "Rolling Stone," quote, "He wasn't as much a country musician as he was a Texas musician." Separately, Bridges has cited Kris Kristofferson as a role model for his portrayal of world-worn country singer. To this, Kristofferson commented, quote, "That's always a mixed blessing. I'm glad my life's not been as rocky as this latest guy in 'Crazy Heart.'" "Crazy Heart: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" is out now. The film's co-stars Colin Farrell and Robert Duvall, also have tracks on the LP.
Burnett is in the running for an Oscar with Ryan Bingham in the Music (Original Song) category for "The Weary Kind (Theme from Crazy Heart)," while Bridges is a contender for the Actor in a Leading Role award. The 82nd Annual Academy Awards will be presented on March 7th. ABC will televise the ceremony live from the Kodak Theater in Hollywood starting at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. |
