Nelly Furtado Set To Act In "Score: A Hockey Musical"
Canadian singer Nelly Furtado is about to represent her country in two ways: at the Vancouver Olympics and with a film role in "Score: A Hockey Musical." The "Vancouver Sun" reports that the singer, who hails from Victoria, B.C., will be in 'Score' because the film's director wrote the role specifically for her. The film's writer-director, Michael McGowan says, quote, "Nelly is an incredible entertainer and, after speaking with her, I realized that she fully relished embracing her inner hockey fanatic." This won't be Furtado's first acting role. She starred opposite Mark Wahlberg in the 2008 film, "Max Payne," and appeared in a guest role on a 2007 episode of CBS' "CSI: NY." "Score: A Hockey Musical" is about a young hockey player who skyrockets to fame overnight. The film will be filled with musical numbers.
Furtado has been at the intersection of sports and entertainment lately. On Friday, she performed in Miami at the Pepsi Musica Super Bowl Fan Jam, where she played songs from her album, "Mi Plan." She is also set to perform as part of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, for which opening ceremonies are set for this Friday night, February 12th. Furtado is scheduled to play on February 14th at the Vancouver Victory Ceremony concert that day. |
