Marsden Of Pacemakers Fame To Receive John Moores University Fellowship
Gerry Marsden of the British invasion group Gerry & The Pacemakers is receiving an honorary fellowship this summer. "The Liverpool Echo" reports that Marsden is on John Moores University's honorary fellowship list. Marsden will pick up the honor this July. The Liverpool-based university is celebrating Marsden for his "outstanding contribution to the performing arts." Regarding the honor, the 67-year-old said, quote, "It is nice to honored, particularly by a Liverpool university."
Gerry & The Pacemakers enjoyed success in the early sixties with the chart topping hits "How Do You Do It?" "I Like It" and "You'll Never Walk Alone." The band was managed by Brian Epstein, also known for his work with The Beatles. |
