Crash Kings "Wait" On Big Break
The Hollywood stereotype of actors getting discovered waiting tables apparently works for musicians as well. Crash Kings singer-pianist Tony Beliveau says his big break came when he was a waiter at a Los Angeles-based eatery, and singer-songwriter-producer Linda Perry landed at one of his tables. He recalls that as he took her order she asked him about his musical background. Beliveau adds that she pursued him. Beliveau says he was educated at Boston's Berklee College Of Music and part of the jazz community, so he wasn't sure just what he'd play for Perry. But he notes that over time the pieces fell into place for his band and their music, and they got some demos together for her. Once she heard them, Crash Kings -- which also features Tony's brother Mike on bass and drummer Jason Morris -- were on their way.
