1976 - Johnnie Taylor's single "Disco Lady" was certified Gold.
1978 - England Dan and John Ford Coley's "We'll Never Have To Say Goodbye" broke into the Top 40.
1980 - Donna Summer's single "On The Radio" was certified Gold.
1985 - Wham!'s single "Careless Whisper" and the Phil Collins-Philip Bailey duet "Easy Lover" were certified Gold.
1989 - New Kids On The Block's "You Got It (The Right Stuff)" peaked at number three on the pop singles chart.
1991 - Janet Jackson's video "Rhythm Nation Compilation" was certified Gold, Platinum, and multi-Platinum. She also announced she was changing labels, going from A&M Records to Virgin.
1992 - En Vogue released the single "My Lovin'."
1993 - Mariah Carey's "MTV Unplugged EP" was certified multi-Platinum.
1995 - Brandy's "Baby" peaked at number four on the pop singles chart.
Des'ree's "You Gotta Be" peaked at number five on the pop singles chart.
1998 - Celine Dion's album "Let's Talk About Love" was certified multi-Platinum, and her single "My Heart Will Go On" was certified Gold.
The Spice Girls' album "Spice World" was certified multi-Platinum.
2001 - Aaron Carter signed on to play the part of JoJo in "Seussical the Musical" on Broadway. Carter's run began April 4th.
2002 - Cher announced that she was going to retire from touring after one final road trip.
2004 - Ruben Studdard launched his first U.S. tour with a date in Philadelphia. The outing was scheduled to begin a week earlier in Los Angeles, but an unexplained delay caused the change.
2005 - Prosecutors in the Michael Jackson child molestation case told the judge that the pop star was facing a serious financial crisis. The Deputy District Attorney referred to Jackson as a "spendaholic."
2008 - Britney Spears headed to the Fox studio to work on filming a series of episodes for the sitcom "How I Met Your Mother."
2009 - Pre-sale tickets for Michael Jackson's O2 Arena shows in London went on sale to fans who had registered for the early sale online. Tickets to the general public began selling on March 13th, 2009.< |
