Lady Gaga, Beyonce Tie Mariah's Record On Pop Songs Chart
Lady Gaga and Beyonce are now in league with Mariah Carey on Billboard's Pop Songs chart. Billboard.com reports that the singers have now tied Carey for the most number one songs on the chart since its launch in 1992. Gaga and Beyonce's new duet, "Telephone," puts them in Mariah's territory. The song is the sixth number one single on the Pop Songs chart for both singers and, until now, Carey had been the only artist to see six singles go to number one on the Nielsen BDS-based radio airplay chart. Carey accomplished the feat between 1993 and 2005. Beyonce's record of hits on Billboard's Pop Songs chart span the years 2003 through 2010. Gaga's songs only began hitting the chart in 2008. Overall, Mariah Carey holds 18 number one singles on the Billboard singles chart, putting her in second place behind the Beatles as the artist with the most number one singles.
