Scott Weiland Discusses Velvet Revolver's Downfall
Scott Weiland is happily back with Stone Temple Pilots, but he's now speaking more in depth about the woes that caused his ouster from the still singer-less Velvet Revolver. The vocalist tells "Details" magazine, quote, "When Velvet Revolver first got together, it was great. I got to know the guys before: Met Duff [McKagan] at the gym...I was in rehab with Matt [Sorum]. I'd only met Slash twice -- he's not the most social person. We had all been through the same experiences, and it felt like a gang."
However, Weiland contends that egos got in the way. He says, quote, "Everyone was a rock star. There were petty jealousies. Then the wives got involved with the business of the band, and that was the beginning of the downfall." As things soured with the group, Weiland reconnected with his former band STP. Stone Temple Pilots now have a new album on the way. The group's self-titled effort is due in stores on May 25th. |
