Dr. Martens Collecting Covers For Anniversary Project
Boot makers Dr. Martens are getting in the music game with a series celebrating 50 years in business. Consequenceofsound.net reports that the company has tasked ten acts with covering songs that represent the spirit of artists who've worn the popular footwear over the years. In addition, they assigned ten different directors to film videos for each song. The performers include Black Rebel Motorcycle Club doing The Pogues' "Dirty Old Town," The Duke Spirit covering Sham 69's "If The Kids Are United," The Raveonettes taking on Stone Roses' "I Wanna Be Adored," and Noisettes performing The Buzzcocks' "Ever Fallen In Love." Baraka Som Sistema, Dam Funk, Cinematic Orchestra, NASA, Verbal, and MC5's Michael Davis with D.O.A. are the other featured performers. Six of the videos have already found their way online, with more expected in the coming weeks.
