Arcade Fire's Butler Recalls The "Wait"
Arcade Fire's Win Butler is looking back fondly on his youth with the new song, "We Used To Wait." The singer tells NME.com that the song was inspired by a summer of writing romantic letters when he was a high school student. He explains, quote, "In high school I had a letter-writing romance with a girl. I was trying to remember the time...waiting an entire summer, pretty much half a year, the anxiousness of waiting for letters to arrive." He recalls, quote, "All day every day there's almost this cloud of feeling hanging over everything. We'd be in Maine, I'd walk down to the post office and come back...the whole day was consumed by that feeling." "We Used To Wait" is featured on "The Suburbs" album, due August 3rd. |
